Duluth, Ga. (February 5, 2011) — Massey Ferguson (http://www.masseyferguson.com) and Key Dollar Cab (http://www.keydollarcab.com/) have formed an association that will bring to the market lowprofile orchard cabs and orchard fenders designed to meet the unique production needs of the tree fruit and nut industries. The high-quality accessories will be designed specifically for two of Massey Ferguson's most popular heavy-duty utility tractors. By working together, the two companies will not only offer a robust cab and full-coverage orchard fenders which will be installed on the tractors prior to delivery, but also will make available financing for the entire package through AGCO Finance.
"We're very excited to work with Massey Ferguson to design, build and install orchard cabs and fenders on the company's MF2670 HD and MF2680 HD low-profile utility tractors," says Jason Dohrmann, general manager at Key Dollar Cab of Portland, Ore. "Working together, we will be able to provide growers a robust and specialized cab that I am confident will have the integrity and functionality of a factory-installed cab." Fenders designed and built through this collaboration will be on display during the World Ag Expo, Feb. 8-10, 2011, in Tulare, Calf. The products will be available through licensed Massey Ferguson dealers and are expected to be on farms by late summer.
"By working directly with Key Dollar Cab, we have combined the high-tech product development systems of Massey Ferguson with the design and fabrication expertise of the Key Dollar Cab team," explains Rene Boivin, product marketing manager for utility, specialty and mid-range tractors with Massey Ferguson. "By starting the design process using our computerized technical drawings, they're able to create the new cabs without the painstaking and potentially inaccurate process of measuring the tractor. All of the design specifics are merged efficiently into their state-of-the-art 3D modeling system."
The cabs being created specifically for the MF2670 HD and MF2680 HD low-profile tractors will feature a completely sealed, air-conditioned, pressurized cab with charcoal air and dust filtration to enhance operator safety in addition to the personal protective devices required while spraying in orchards. In addition, the cabs will feature one-half-inch-thick orchard glass to prevent window breakage. The low-profile cabs also will have a low, sleek shape designed to allow tree branches to slide by without breaking branches or damaging the crop.
Key Dollar Cab was founded in 1982 and specializes in the designing and building of spray cabs specifically for orchards and vineyards in California, Washington and Oregon. Because of heightened awareness of operator safety, the company began designing and building this specific type of low-profile cab in 2006.
