Modular Component Shaft Drive
features a modular design that is easily accessed for changing knives and periodic maintenance.
The modular cutterbar is driven by segmented hex shafts and pinion gears. This design allows for quick disassembly of individual modules, rather than the entire cutterbed, for ease of servicing and repair. Each module has its own lubrication so the cutterbar can be operated on steep angles for extended periods of time without grease or oil running to one end. Under each module, is a replaceable skid shoe that protects the cutterbar itself from wear caused by running on the ground. Each disc is mounted to a vertical shaft and features a shear point. In the event an obstruction is encountered, the shaft will shear protecting the more expensive gears inside the module reducing overall maintenance and repair costs.

A Solid Tube Frame
attaches to the tractor 3-point hitch and is now compatible with quick hitches which makes hook-up to more tractors quick and easy.
The frame is built to be solid and durable for years of reliable operation. The hitch points have also been redesigned so now a tractor with a 3-point quick hitch can hook to it quickly and easily reducing the amount of time and frustration associated with attaching the mower to the tractor.

Simple Belt Drive
transfers power from the 540 PTO shaft to the main drive gearbox.
The main-frame incorporates a belt driven gearbox, the heavy-duty, banded V-belt drive helps to reduce shock to the gearbox and is easily maintained. All units feature a 6 spline 540 PTO shaft with an overrunning clutch. The overrunning clutch prevents damage to the cutterbar, PTO shaft, and tractor PTO clutch by allowing the cutterbar to coast to a stop when the PTO is turned off. (Shield removed for picture)

Spring Floatation
keeps the cutterbar riding smoothly across the ground without damaging the field or cutterbar. A breakaway point is also incorporated into the frame to prevent damage to the mower.
While all models have a standard inner flotation spring that takes pressure off the inner skid shoe, Models 1328, 1329, and 1330 feature an outer flotation spring as well. This design increases wear life on the outer skid shoe.
The disc mowers also have a breakaway point that uses an adjustable spring tension system. In the event an immovable object is encountered the system allows the cutterbar to give, allowing the operator sufficient time to stop before serious damage occurs.

Automatic Transport Latch
is now a feature of the Massey Ferguson Disc Mowers. When raised the cutterbar automatically locks in transport position.
Each mower is equipped with a hydraulic cylinder to raise and lower the cutterbed. A spring activated latch is now on the mower so the operator can unlock the mower from road position without leaving the tractor cab. When the mower is raised a spring hooks the latch to lock the cutterbar for safe transport. The operator then simply pulls the supplied rope to unlock the cutterbar which lowers the mower to begin cutting thus saving time and increasing the use of the safety latch.
