In-Line Square Balers
Exclusive to Massey Ferguson and provide many advantages of conventional balers.
The efficient in-line design square balers assure that each square bale will stack like a brick. The inline design is an industry exclusive, originally developed in 1979 by Hesston®.
- The chamber design virtually eliminates banana shaped bales produced by our competitions conventional style balers.
- The in-line baler also means that field and road positions are the same, this is not so for conventional balers. Operators must constantly change from field to road positions.
- Side draft in hilly conditions is not experienced with the in-line square balers because they are not heavier on one side.
- When baling with a Massey Ferguson square baler, the operator simply straddles the windrow the same as they would when they are round baling.

Pre-Forming Chamber
Assures that each bale flake is the same density and shape as the next making consistent square bales.
The pre-forming chamber is located just behind the pickup allowing for hay to be continually fed into the chamber. While the plunger is in its back stroke, a set of stuffer fingers pushes the hay from the pre-forming chamber into the bale chamber in front of the plunger. The plunger then pushes the flake forward cutting it from the bottom with the plunger knives forming a bale flake.
- The pre-forming chamber eliminates banana bales in baling conditions that contain light to heavy windrows.
- Feeding bales to horses and livestock is easier because each flake is the same size.

Hydraulic Bale Density
Optional on Models 1835, 1837, and 1839 balers and is standard on Models 1841, 1843S and 1843N.
Bale Density can be preset with a gauge on the baler. The baler will then keep bale density constant even as hay moisture conditions change through the day. This eliminates constant density changes associated with a spring tension system and eliminates the need for the operator to get on and off the tractor all day.
- Assures that each bale is the same weight.
- Reduces operator fatigue greatly over standard spring tension systems.
- Self-contains the hydraulic system on the baler so no additional tractor remotes are required.

Deutz Air-Cooled Diesel Engines
Provides all the power needed for baling with Models 1843S and 1843N 3-twine balers.
The Duetz 67 horsepower air-cooled diesel engine provides all the power needed for this baler to produce nice three twine bales. The engine runs the main drive as well as all the lights and hydraulics on the baler simplifying hookup and allows the baler to be pulled by a tractor, pickup, or jeep.
